Editorial: An Exciting Second Half of 2022 Lies Ahead

After a much-needed break, the IACL Blog is delighted to be back online and looking forward to exciting news, projects, and opportunities in the second half of 2022.

We are happy to announce that the Blog is now accepting blog post submissions in Spanish. This decision is informed by our mission and commitment to making the Blog a truly global forum for conversations about constitutions. It will allow us to include analysis and insights from jurisdictions and voices that are under-represented in global constitutional conversations. In that spirit, we’re proud to announce that this month we will be hosting a Symposium on “Constitutionalism in and from Central America”, focusing on pressing constitutional issues facing the Central American region. With posts in both English and Spanish, this Symposium will include the first Spanish language posts to be published by the IACL Blog. We would like to thank our guest editors, Carlos Arturo Villagran and Edgar Ortiz for this initiative and look forward to the Symposium.

In light of this new endeavor, we are seeking expressions of interest to join our team as Assistant Editor. If you are a doctoral student with excellent command of English, Spanish and/or French, and interested in all things constitutional and enjoy connecting with scholars across the world, the IACL Blog is the place for you! If you would like to join us, or want more information about the IACL Blog editorial team, please contact us at iacl.blogeditor@gmail.com by 30 September. Please include your CV and a short paragraph (200 words) explaining your research interests.

December 2022 will also see us gather together in Johannesburg with constitutional law scholars from around the globe for the World Congress of Constitutional Law. The IACL Blog editors will be in attendance and we look forward to meeting as many Blog readers and contributors as we can! There will be many opportunities to talk with us and get to know the Blog better, including a panel discussion on “Everything you wanted to know about blogging constitutional law”. We will share more details on this and other blog-related events closer to the time. Keep an eye out too for more posts in our joint Symposium with African Law Matters Blog featuring insights from World Congress plenary speakers on the theme “Constitutional Transformations”.

In the meantime, stay tuned to the IACL Blog for information about upcoming events and posts on current constitutional issues, in-depth analysis and thematic symposiums. This is your blog, so please get in touch to submit a post, propose a Symposium, publicize calls for papers or events and share your feedback!
