Invitation and CfP: Conference on Comparative Constitutionalism in Asian Countries: Establishment, Procedures, and Mechanisms of Constitutional Review

Nazarbayev University (Astana, Kazakhstan)
31 March - 1 April 2023

Nazarbayev University (Astana, Kazakhstan), will host the Conference on Comparative Constitutionalism in Asian Countries: Establishment, Procedures, and Mechanism of Constitutional Review from March 31 to April 1, 2023. We look forward to meeting you and value your contribution to the conference. The conference's purpose is to bring together global constitutional scholars within and outside Asia to interact, share ideas and build collegial networks that may facilitate scholarly dialogue and research collaborations. The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan is a recently re-established tribunal of constitutional review with broad jurisdiction and individual access. The academic exchanges during the conference will provide useful comparative perspectives for its work in the future and for the contribution of the constitutional review systems to the rule of law in other countries.

The conference will focus on the establishment, procedures, and other aspects of constitutional review systems in different countries. There will be 3 to 4 panels with keynote speeches (not exceeding 16 presenters in total) to give presenters and discussants adequate time for a fruitful engagement. In preparing abstracts of their proposed papers, we encourage prospective participants to address the conference theme. This will allow the panels to be more cohesive and foster greater collaboration between academics. The language of the Conference is English.

All participants should plan to make their own travel arrangements. The organizers will issue visa invitations, where applicable. Practical information regarding travel and accommodation in Astana will be provided to presenters.
